HELP SCHOOLS EDUCATE OUR CHILDREN
26 schools citywide are currently funded in the Community Schools Initiative and are mobilizing their villages’ resources to support the work of the schools and transform them into neighborhood schools. Partners at other schools are ready to do the same!
- Community schools increase attendance, safety, and family involvement!
- Community schools organize “the village” to create safe and supportive learning environments for student success.
- Community schools bring needed services and opportunities to students, families and neighborhoods, including:
Youth development and academic enrichment!
Family support!
Adult education and employment assistance!
Physical and mental health!
Community development and safety!
Here’s how to strengthen funding for Community Schools in the City budget.
1) continue and improve existing sites!
2) expand to 35 sites in 2007-8!
3) fund all sites adequately!
